Science fair projects on perfume can be interesting and profitable. If you are interested in manufacturing your own scent for personal use, or if you are interested in becoming a scent millionaire, then these chemistry experiments are a great place to start. The more you learn about the science of scent and perfume making, the more you will understand what perfume is, what it is used for and why people like it so much.

Scents are extracted from natural sources with heat. This is one hypothesis that your science fair projects on perfume can test. To test this hypothesis you will need to create an experiment that uses heat to extract scent oils from natural sources like flours, herbs and wood. To expand on this project determine if this is the best way to extract natural scents or if there is a better way.

Chemicals can be mixed to produce artificial scents. This is another important hypothesis to test with science fair projects on perfume if you want to eventually manufacture your own perfume line. To test this hypothesis you will want to conduct experiments to replicate specific scents by mixing chemicals together. This experiment can be volatile, so make sure you understand how the chemicals you are working with will reaction with one another before you mix them.

What smells sexy to men? This hypothesis is an interesting topic for chemistry science fair projects as well as for biochemistry science fair projects. To test this hypothesis you will need to find male test subjects and give them lots of different scents to test. Ask each one what scents they like, and which ones they think are sexy. Use both normal and weird scents for your experiment. For example, you can use fruit scents, wood scents, gym socks and sweating t-shirts worm by women.

What smells sexy to women? This is a variation on the above project. In this experiment the independent variable will be the scent and the dependent variable will be the perception of the scent by the women test subject. To test this hypothesis you will need at least ten test subjects. You can advance this project by determining if age impacts what women think smells good or sexy.

Another variation on the above experiment is to compare what men and women think smells sexy. You can also test to see if men are able to predict what women think smells sexy or if women are able to predict what men will think smells sexy. The key to developing an advanced science fair project is to think of new questions to ask about common topics.
