International Year of Astronomy plus 17 free science fair projects...

Hi and Happy New Year!!! Hope you enjoyed your holiday break.

This year our goal is to contribute 500 new science fair projects to the Super Science Fair Projects.com site. There are many students from 3rd World countries that visit our site. They do not have the educational resources that your country may have.

To accomplish this goal in 2009 we need your help. Here's what you can do...

1. Ask your school to send us copies of science fair projects that other students have completed over the years in a Word document. We only publish the student's 1st name, grade, city, state / providence, and country. If they have images of backboards, that would be an added treasure.
2. You can send in and donate your own science fair projects in a Word document.
3. Teachers, you can send in projects that you have received over the years.
4. Parents, talk with your children and ask them if they would be willing to contribute their science fair projects.

Please join this drive to have as many science fair projects available to those who do not have the supplies to do their own. Send them as an attachment to thegoodlife@comcast.net

This event is taking place in 2009 to coincide with the 400th anniversary of the first recorded astronomical observations with a telescope by Galileo Galilei and the publication of Johannes Kepler's Astronomia nova in the 17th century. The Astronomy 2009 was announced by the 62nd General Assembly of the UN.

The UN body, who is responsible for cultural, educational, and scientific matters, and the IAU (International Astronomical Union), has laid out a global scheme.

This initiative is an opportunity for us, as citizens of Earth, to increase our insight and understanding of astronomy’s role in enriching all human cultures. Also, it will serve as a platform for informing the public about the latest astronomical discoveries while emphasizing the essential role of astronomy in science education.
