7th grade biochemistry science fair projects can focus on a lot of different topics. For example, they can look at photosynthesis, enzymes, plant hormones or even genetics. The topic that each 7th grader selects needs to be something that interests them and that can be developed into a great project. Here are some examples.

The first group of topics for 7th grade biochemistry science fair projects deal with photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is the process that plants use to turn sunlight into fuel for metabolism. Some of the science experiments that you can work with include: experimenting with the color of the light used to grow a plant, the amount of light the plant is exposed to and the intensity of the light used to grow a plant.

Enzymes are another great topic that 7th graders can work with when developing their science fair project ideas. There are several different foci that an enzyme project can have. For example, you can explore how various types of catalysts impact chemical reactions, you can study the properties of enzymes or you can explore what affects enzymes.

Plant hormones also can be used as a topic for 7th grade level science fair projects. Two of the topics that can be examined in this group of science fair project ideas are geotropism and phototropism. Young scientists can examine how these two plant hormone principals impacts how plants grow and respond to their environment.

The final biochemistry project category is genetics. By the 7th grade, students have a good understanding of the main principals behind genetics, however, they have little laboratory experience. Genetics projects can help them to gain hands on experience working with genetics. Fruit flies are a common genetics experiment subject because they reproduce quickly and have accelerated life cycles. If fruit flies are not available for the student to work with, then they can study the genetics in their family by studying hereditary traits like eye color, hair color, height, weight and quality of vision.
